The Chicago Story

classic rock 70s chicago rock soft rock

"Wishing You Were Here" is a mellow AM radio style song written by Peter Cetera for the 1974 album Chicago VII. Main vocals provided by the late Terry Kath, (but strangely not credited as such on the original album pressing) with Cetera leading the bridge. Fascinating point of interest in this tune are the smooth backing harmonies provided by three members of The Beach Boys-Carl Wilson, Dennis Wilson and Al Jardine. Read more on Last.fm.

Chicago is an American rock band formed in 1967 in Chicago, Illinois. The self-described "rock and roll band with horns" began as a politically charged, sometimes experimental, rock band and later moved to a predominantly softer sound, generating several hit ballads. They had a steady stream of hits throughout the 1970s and 1980s. Second only to The Beach Boys in Billboard singles and albums chart success among American bands, Chicago is one of the longest-running and most successful rock groups in history. According to Billboard, Chicago was the leading US singles charting group during the 1970s. They have sold over 38 million units in the US, with 22 gold, 18 platinum, and 8 multi-platinum albums. Over the course of their career they have had five number-one albums and 21 top-ten singles. There are at least two artists with this name: 1. A popular American rock band 2. A psytrance artist (If you are scrobbling tracks here from Chicago - Music From The Miramax Motion Picture, please fix your tags.) 3. A Japanese vocalist named CHICACO but weirdly gets redirected here. She's been active in LYDIA GRAVE and the touhou arrangement circle ESQUARIA. The second Chicago is a psytrance artist, the pseudonym of David Potter Christman. He is a member of 1200 Micrograms Read more on Last.fm.
